Elon Musk publicly announced that SpaceX has completed $40 billion in debt financing, primarily aimed at purchasing GPU computing hardware expected to be delivered in the first and second quarters of 2027. This statement was made on the social media platform X on October 26, 2026.

Musk stated, "This funding is mainly redeemable debt used to pay for GPU procurement expenses that will be delivered in the first and second quarters of next year. This is not a major factor for this quarter."

Before Musk's post, it was reported that SpaceX was in discussions with multiple banks and asset management firms to raise the $40 billion needed for acquiring NVIDIA's artificial intelligence chips.

This substantial financing highlights the significant capital demands under the current AI wave, as major technology companies compete to purchase advanced processors and accelerate the construction of computational infrastructure necessary for AI research and development.

In the third quarter of fiscal year 2026, SpaceX reported total revenues of $14.575 billion, a year-on-year increase of 161%. The gross profit stood at $9.097 billion, showing a year-on-year growth of 216.86%, with a gross margin of 62.42%, up by 10.93 percentage points. The net profit attributable to shareholders was $4.404 billion, marking a return to profitability compared to the previous year.
