KB Kookmin Bank Hacked, Personal Information of 119 Customers Leaked
The employee system of KB Kookmin Bank was hacked, leading to the leakage of personal information of 119 customers. According to KB Kookmin Bank on October 2, there was unusual external access to the mobile support system for employees on the night of September 30. Information leaked included names, phone numbers, addresses, and encrypted resident registration numbers. The bank stated that the leaked information varies by customer. After realizing the breach, KB Kookmin Bank blocked the server and access routes involved.
The bank plans to fully compensate customers for any damages caused by the data leak and has individually notified affected customers about the breach while providing guidance on prevention of secondary damage. KB Kookmin Bank emphasized that it is taking the situation very seriously and is activating a comprehensive emergency response system to check all related processes from the ground up to prevent further damage and recurrence.
