Value Card Server Breach Exposes 1,130,000 Records
On October 23, Value Design and its parent company, Pei Cloud Holdings, announced that their server for the electronic money issuance service, Value Card, suffered unauthorized access, resulting in the leak of 1,424,748 records including ID numbers, PIN numbers, and balance information. The breach was confirmed on October 19, with the compromised records including 569,224 issued IDs and 855,524 unissued IDs that were yet to be purchased by end users.
Mos Food Service, the operator of the Mos Card prepaid card, also reported on October 23 that the system operated by Value Design experienced unauthorized access, leading to the leak of 1,133,070 records associated with the Mos Card. This includes approximately 570,000 distributed cards and around 560,000 undelivered cards. The exposed data encompasses the 16-digit card numbers, 6-digit PIN numbers, and balance information, while personal details such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and credit card information were not included.
To prevent unauthorized use, Mos Food has mandated a forced change of the PIN numbers for the affected cards. While usage in-store, online orders, and “order at the table” services remain unaffected, customers are advised to contact a dedicated support line if they are unable to check their balance online, register for the official app, or make guest purchases using the Mos Card online.
