Utopai Studios Reaches 1 Billion USD Valuation Following 60 Million USD Funding
Utopai Studios has completed a funding round of 60 million USD, bringing its valuation to 1 billion USD.
Founded four years ago, the company has reportedly received investment intentions for a subsequent round ranging between 2 billion USD and 3 billion USD. The company operates as an artificial intelligence native entertainment firm that integrates a custom video model, a production intelligence system, theatrical distribution, and intellectual property operations.
Technologically, the company utilizes Utopai X, a video model customized based on MiniMax H3. This model has ranked second globally in both text to video and image to video blind tests conducted by Artificial Analysis. To manage production, the company uses its PAI production intelligence system, which employs artificial intelligence agents as production assistants to plan shots and generate versions while keeping creative decisions with human creators.
Utopai Studios has established partnerships with global entertainment companies including CJ ENM, Globoplay, DeNA, and Huace. It has also received a strategic investment from Creative 7, owned by NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, and collaborated with NBA player James Harden on an artificial intelligence animated short.
In terms of industry access, the company is the first artificial intelligence film and television company to join both the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild.
For 2027, the company has a theatrical slate including the historical epic Cortés, the animated feature The Most Serious Fart, and the German and South Korean co production Half Moon. Additionally, its science fiction series Space Nation has sold distribution rights to a German television station and Globoplay at market prices for non artificial intelligence content. Potential combined pre sale revenue for Space Nation and Cortés may reach 110 million USD.
The company plans to release three theatrical features and two major series by 2027, targeting approximately 3,000 cinemas in North America.
