Samsung has joined a new funding round for the Dutch startup Euclyd, which specializes in developing artificial intelligence chips and aims to compete with NVIDIA in dedicated AI inference solutions. Euclyd raised 230,000,000 USD in the latest round, with participation from Samsung and other investors including Somerset Capital Partners, Scaleup Europe Fund, and Innovation Industries, although the Korean company has not disclosed the exact size of its investment.

Founded only two years ago, Euclyd focuses on building AI processors with a different architecture than current NVIDIA solutions, avoiding the traditional GPU-forward approach. This reflects the desire of some major players to seek alternative solutions beyond total reliance on NVIDIA, especially with rising costs and the expanding use of AI. Companies like OpenAI, Amazon, Google, and Meta have invested in developing their own AI processors, while Euclyd hopes to enter the competition with its new technologies, leveraging Samsung's extensive expertise in the sector.

The CEO of Euclyd confirmed that Samsung provides support beyond financial funding, playing a role in engineering oversight, supply chain understanding, and access to global industrial networks, giving the startup additional strengths in its path to compete with the giants.
