OpenAI secures $20 billion funding from investors
On October 2, 2026, OpenAI received a significant funding boost, with Nvidia and SoftBank each contributing their final payment of $10 billion. This payment fulfills their respective commitments of $30 billion. The total pledged amount for this funding round is approximately $122 billion, valuing OpenAI at around $852 billion.
In addition to Nvidia and SoftBank, Amazon has previously completed a $50 billion investment, bringing the total contributions from these three major investors to about $110 billion. This total represents approximately 90% of the commitments made for this funding round.
The substantial funding will enhance OpenAI's financial capabilities in developing artificial intelligence models, building computing infrastructure, and expanding data centers. SoftBank noted that following this additional investment, its cumulative investment in OpenAI reaches approximately $64.6 billion, with a shareholding ratio of around 13%.
