Online lecture platform 'LiveClass' hacked, personal data leaked

The online lecture platform 'LiveClass' has suffered a data breach, resulting in the spread of damage. Individual instructors hosting classes on LiveClass have also been affected by this incident.

Futurescole, the operator of the LiveClass platform, announced that its system was compromised due to a malicious external attack, leading to the leakage of personal information. The company stated, "During a security inspection on the 15th, unauthorized access to the student information retrieval function occurred due to an external malicious attack on the LiveClass service," and confirmed that customer personal data was leaked over the two days of the 11th and 14th.

The leaked personal information includes ▲ customer names ▲ course applicant names ▲ email addresses ▲ mobile phone numbers ▲ profile image URLs ▲ internal service identification numbers. It has been determined that payment information such as card or account numbers and account passwords were not leaked.

After confirming the leak, Futurescole took several security measures, including ▲ suspending accounts used for unauthorized access ▲ strengthening access permissions to the student information retrieval function ▲ checking the retrieval function and implementing security measures ▲ reporting the leak to relevant authorities ▲ notifying the Cyber Investigation Unit of the police.

LiveClass, launched in November 2018, provides lectures from various instructors to students. However, the data breach has also impacted companies that entrusted their courses to the platform.

SecureMentor, a service providing information security training, announced that member personal data was leaked due to the LiveClass incident. They stated, "A data breach occurred at LiveClass, which is responsible for managing courses on the SecureMentor site due to external attacks."
