The company TANGLE has announced the launch of its augmented reality (AR) navigation application called Naviu, set to begin on November 1, 2026. This app is designed to assist travelers visiting Japan in exploring cities freely using artificial intelligence (AI) technology paired with patent-pending AR features. Naviu integrates high-precision location-based technology, allowing users to receive information about nearby temples, streets, and landmarks in 29 languages simply by asking questions. The app combines AR routes and AI characters to enhance city exploration, revealing stories and locations that are often overlooked with traditional maps and guidebooks.

Naviu serves as an all-in-one application for international travelers, providing an AI guide capable of answering various questions based on the user's location. It includes an AR navigation system that overlays a semi-transparent route over real-world streets, facilitating easier navigation. Users can also utilize photo recognition features to ask questions about nearby temples, signs, and shops immediately. Additionally, the app offers itinerary planning options that account for dietary restrictions, interests, accessibility, and duration of stay.

TANGLE has developed a spatial content network within Naviu that allows businesses, local governments, and creators to place 3D and AR content at specific real-world locations. The app aims to enhance tourist experiences at iconic locations such as Sensoji Temple, Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Meiji Shrine, and Tokyo Station, providing immersive AR experiences at these sites.

Jack Mead, co-CEO of Ashita and head of the Naviu project, commented, "The difficulty with traveling in Japan is not getting lost, but passing by stunning sights without knowing what they are. Naviu answers those questions in your own language while you stand right there. The city becomes yours, not just a backdrop."
