Meta acquires Conductor, an AI coding startup
Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that allows users to create software projects by deploying multiple agents to work in parallel within separate workspaces. Meta did not disclose the details of the deal.
Conductor was founded in 2024 and recently launched its main product during the summer. The platform's highlight is its agentic teams, which help software engineers break projects into smaller, distinct parts, with each agent responsible for handling individual tasks concurrently. Users can deploy agent teams on the cloud, on local machines, or via mobile devices.
Conductor does not develop its own agents but utilizes agents from major AI labs such as Anthropic and OpenAI. The company announced its joining Meta through its corporate blog, while Meta confirmed the acquisition but did not provide further comments or details.
Conductor plans to develop a new interface and will introduce new features for customers by early 2027. The team will collaborate with Meta's Chief AI Officer and the head of Product at Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). For current users, Conductor's main features will continue to operate as usual until early 2027, except for its cloud services, which will cease operations on November 20, 2026. After that, the company will begin deleting user data stored on Meta's cloud.
Meta has been actively chasing competitors in the AI service space for several months. In August, Meta launched Muse Code, its own coding agent, and the recently introduced Muse agents have already surpassed 10 million users. Additionally, Meta has acquired several other AI companies over the past year, including Moltbook, a viral agent platform.
