Gemini Launches Auto Browse Feature in Chrome for Android Users
Google has introduced the Auto Browse feature in Chrome for Android users in India. Gemini will no longer just understand web pages or answer questions; it will now be able to perform multiple-step tasks by navigating from one website to another. Users can expect Gemini to complete certain online tasks on their behalf instead of doing everything manually.
Initially launched for desktop users, Gemini is now available on Android as well. With this feature, users can ask questions about web pages, summarize long articles, and connect Gemini with apps like Google Keep and Calendar without leaving the browser. Additionally, users can utilize Gemini's image generation capabilities during browsing, including options to create or modify images using Nano Banana.
The Auto Browse feature is currently available for both desktop and Android users, but its use is limited to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers for now. This feature differentiates itself from standard Autofill, which primarily fills in information on forms. Auto Browse can handle various online tasks that require multiple steps.
Gemini can gather information from different websites, fill out forms, and complete repetitive online tasks. It can assist in booking parking for events, ordering groceries, or checking hotel and flight prices on different dates.
For more complex tasks, Auto Browse can be utilized. For instance, users can instruct Gemini to find a product based on a picture. The AI can then compare prices and help add the right item to the cart while applying any available discounts.
Since Auto Browse can directly interact with websites, Google has implemented certain security features. If a web page contains misleading instructions that could confuse the AI, the system is designed to recognize it. Furthermore, Gemini will request permission from users before completing tasks involving payments, privacy-related issues, or any other critical actions, ensuring that user control is maintained during these processes.
