Firecrawl raised $75 million in a Series B round led by Smash Capital. Altos, Nexus, Y Combinator, Freestyle, and Offline Ventures also participated in the round. The funds will be used to expand Firecrawl's operations and finance the development of Alexandria, a new knowledge platform for AI models and agents. The Alexandria platform will gather public scientific articles in medicine, biology, and AI, as well as consolidated knowledge from 70 million codebases. The repository will include tens of millions of government documents, such as court materials, Securities and Exchange Commission filings, and federal legislation and regulation. The platform will also integrate hundreds of real-time data providers. Categories covered include financial markets, macroeconomics, retail, e-commerce, delivery, real estate, travel, hospitality, job listings, B2B information, social networks, newsletters, app stores, and AI models.

Updated internet data will reach Alexandria through Firecrawl's own infrastructure. Anyone, any company, or any AI agent can contribute content to the repository. The model allows for specialized professionals, organizations maintaining sectoral databases, and autonomous agents capable of gathering new materials. Firecrawl was founded two years ago to structure web data for developers. The company now aims to build what it describes as the world's largest knowledge repository for AI. The initiative addresses a problem identified in the sector: AI models have become capable of performing complex tasks, but the information they need remains scattered across scientific publications, corporate databases, government documents, and various organizational systems. The Alexandria platform will be developed independently of AI labs and will be compatible with both open and proprietary models.

Access will be provided through an application programming interface, a model context protocol, or a command-line interface, allowing integration with various applications and AI agents. Firecrawl was founded by Nicolas Silberstein Camara, Caleb Peffer, and Eric Ciarla. The startup already serves over 1.5 million developers and counts companies such as Shopify, Apple, Lovable, and Canva among its clients. On GitHub, Firecrawl ranks in the global top 100 of most popular projects and has surpassed 175,000 stars. The Series B round comes one year after the Series A round, which raised R$ 81 million with leadership from Nexus and Y Combinator. The interval between the rounds reflects investor confidence in the infrastructure built by the company.
