BSSN Uncovers Facts About Alleged Personal Data Leak of Officials
Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara confirmed that personal data of a government minister circulating on social media is not the result of a new hack. The findings indicate that the data is a compilation of old information gathered and redistributed by irresponsible parties.
The Deputy for Cybersecurity and Government and Human Development Sandi, Sulistyo, stated that his team acted quickly as the issue emerged in public discourse. Initial analysis shows that the leaked data is not from a recent incident, but is instead a collection of various publicly available information and previous data leaks that have been recompiled and circulated by certain individuals.
Despite being recycled data, BSSN emphasized the importance of addressing this issue seriously. The agency is coordinating closely with the Ministry of Communication and Digital and law enforcement to trace the source of dissemination and take strict action against the perpetrators.
BSSN urged the public not to exacerbate the situation by sharing screenshots, posts, or snippets of anyone's personal data, including that of public officials. Sulistyo stressed that personal data remains personal data, regardless of ownership, and sharing it increases the risk of misuse.
BSSN also provided practical guidelines for the public to strengthen the protection of their accounts and personal data from potential abuse.
