Asahi Kasei Therapeutics disclosed that its medical professional website, Pharma DIGITAL, was targeted in a cyber attack on October 6, 2026. The breach may have compromised personal information of approximately 558,700 individuals, including about 514,000 medical professionals' names, associated institutions, and departments, as well as around 44,000 email addresses, affecting about 700 employees of the company.

The unauthorized access specifically targeted Pharma DIGITAL, a site designed for medical professionals to access drug information and related materials. The database of this website was at the center of the attack.

On October 2, 2026, Asahi Kasei Therapeutics received a report from the company that operates the website regarding the unauthorized access. The company promptly suspended the site's operations and took steps to prevent further damage. No credit card information or similar data was stored in the database, and there has been no confirmation of unauthorized use of the information so far.

The company is notifying affected medical professionals individually and plans to investigate the cause of the unauthorized access while implementing comprehensive measures to prevent future incidents.
