AI medical imaging firm Korologic secures seed funding

Medical AI firm Korologic announced it has secured seed funding from Kakao Ventures and Seoul National University Technology Holdings on September 15. The investment amount remains undisclosed.

Korologic is developing an AI solution, AngioFilm, aimed at reducing radiation exposure for patients and medical staff during coronary angiography. The project is led by a team from the Cardiovascular Department at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital.

AngioFilm utilizes video frame interpolation (VFI) technology to restore low-frame coronary angiography footage to high-frame quality. The AI analyzes the position and movement of blood vessels and medical devices by comparing previous and subsequent frames, estimating and generating intermediate images.

This technology can confirm blood vessel movement with fewer X-ray images while maintaining video quality, potentially reducing radiation exposure during procedures such as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by about half.

AngioFilm has completed medical device notification with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and plans to secure approvals from both the Ministry and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after clinical validation across multiple centers.
