# MediaTek unveils new processors with advanced AI capabilities

MediaTek, the Taiwanese technology company, announced two new smartphone processors that utilize the latest manufacturing technologies from TSMC, aiming to strengthen its competition against Qualcomm in the premium smartphone market supported by artificial intelligence. The Dimensity 9600 Pro is the first mobile processor from MediaTek manufactured with a 2-nanometer process at TSMC, utilizing the most advanced technologies in mobile chipsets. The processor includes a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) for generative AI models, providing a 51% increase in processing speed compared to the previous generation when executing user requests before generating a response from the AI model.

In addition to the Pro version, MediaTek launched the Dimensity 9600M processor, manufactured with a 3-nanometer process, targeting a broader segment of the premium smartphone market. The first smartphones powered by the new Dimensity chips are expected to be released soon, as key clients such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo continue to adopt MediaTek's solutions.

MediaTek has also expanded its artificial intelligence efforts into data centers and custom chip products, with the first U.S. cloud AI accelerators expected to enter mass production by the end of 2026. Last month, MediaTek raised 3.9 billion dollars through a convertible bond offering, with Nvidia investing 3.5 billion, along with Alphabet. MediaTek officials state that the shift in the global market towards more expensive and smarter devices enhances its growth opportunities in the high-end segment, while the company works to mitigate the negative impact of rising component prices on consumers amid the surge of AI technologies and the reliance on cutting-edge manufacturing processes.
