# FANCL and Atenea report data breach affecting 785,496 users

FANCL and Atenea announced on October 16 that their e-commerce sites were subject to unauthorized access by a third party, resulting in the leak of some member information. The affected individuals include 368,184 from FANCL and 417,312 from Atenea, totaling 785,496 users.

The leaked information includes email addresses, names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, genders, and customer numbers. It also encompasses member registration details such as point information, membership tiers, preferences for receiving newsletters, and purchase history at physical stores. Additionally, some members' secondary email addresses and hashed secondary passwords were also compromised.

There have been no confirmed reports of the leaked information being publicly disclosed to an unspecified number of people, nor any unauthorized use or secondary damage. Furthermore, no other instances of unauthorized access or malware infections have been reported, and the companies stated that there has been no impact on business activities or services.

Both companies have issued a warning to remain vigilant against suspicious emails, SMS messages, and phone calls, while also urging users to change their passwords regularly.
