# Apple reveals HomePod mini 2 with enhanced sound capabilities

Apple announced the new generation of the smart home speaker HomePod mini, featuring audio improvements powered by the S10 chip. The device comes in new colors and includes an interactive feature that makes the top of the speaker glow and move in sync with music.

The company plans to add artificial intelligence support to the speaker through the voice assistant Siri in a future software update. The HomePod mini 2 includes the S10 chip, which supports advanced audio processing technologies, allowing for real-time improvements in dynamic range, volume level, and audio performance, enhancing the listening experience despite the device's small size.

Apple introduced the Sound Glow feature, transforming the top surface of the speaker into an interactive light display that changes colors and movements in sync with music, responding to low and high frequencies. The feature derives its colors from the album cover, offering a unique visual experience with each audio track.

The speaker allows pairing up to four HomePod mini 2 units together to create a surround sound experience in collaboration with the new generation of Apple TV 4K. The speakers and Apple TV 4K can determine their locations within a room and adjust volume levels accordingly, helping to deliver a more balanced listening experience.

Apple intends to make AI features available in Siri via a future software update, requiring the pairing of HomePod mini 2 with an iPhone or iPad that supports the Apple Intelligence system. The assistant will be able to recognize up to six users by their voices and connect with their devices to provide personalized information, such as messages, allowing each individual to benefit from a more tailored experience.

The device continues to serve as a hub for controlling other smart home devices, and it includes a Sound Recognition feature that detects smoke alarms or carbon monoxide sounds, sending alerts to the user when detected. The HomePod mini 2 is available in five colors: pink, green, blue, white, and black, and is set to hit the market on October 30. The price of the device is 150 dollars, with pre-orders currently open through the Apple online store.
