# 40% of Indonesian organizations hesitate to adopt AI agents for cybersecurity

Forty percent of organizations in Indonesia have not yet extensively adopted AI agents for their cybersecurity operations, according to a recent report. This hesitation persists despite the growing threat of autonomous agent-based cyberattacks that can occur within seconds.

The primary driver of this reluctance is a deep-seated fear of data breaches and system infiltration. Organizations are concerned about the risks associated with integrating advanced AI into their security infrastructure.

Cisco's research highlights a critical mismatch in response times. Organizations that rely on human coordination taking days to respond are likely to struggle against autonomous agents that act in seconds. This speed gap poses a significant challenge for traditional defense mechanisms.

Despite the hesitation to adopt AI agents, a majority of cybersecurity teams in Indonesia express high confidence in their ability to handle AI-based threats. More than 80% of organizations believe they can detect and respond to unauthorized AI agents within their systems.

Cin Cin Go, Managing Director of Cisco Indonesia, stated that the current threat landscape requires operational agility rather than mere technological dependence. He emphasized that AI has fundamentally increased risk escalation in cyber defense, and that speed is driven by operational agility, not just technology.

The report also notes that AI adoption in Indonesia is most widespread in data security and privacy. Conversely, adoption is lowest in Identity and Access Management, a critical area where AI agents could significantly reduce the workload of security teams.

Overall, Indonesia's cybersecurity performance is considered high. The country achieved an average score of 72 out of 100. Twenty-nine percent of Indonesian organizations were classified as Relentless Defenders, a group with the most robust cybersecurity defenses. This figure significantly exceeds the global average of 8%.
